The HAL Explorations Book Club
The Explorations Book Club debuted on Holland America Line this past May of 2009. As part of the cruise line’s ongoing Signature of Excellence initiative, the club will launch with the popular novel "Like Water for Chocolate" on the ms Veendam’s Panama Canal sailing and will be offered on select sailings of 14 days or longer. Each itinerary will feature a different novel, relating to the destination, with two or three discussions hosted by the onboard librarian in the Explorations Café.
If you’re interested in joining the discussion while you cruise, check out the book selections posted online prior to your sail date. Some books for consideration are: "In a Sunburned Country" by Bill Bryson for the Australia itineraries, or "Saving Fish from Drowning": A Novel by Amy Tan for Asia cruises.
